PORTLAND — MAMM SLAM 2014 is open for registration for bands and solo performers. MAMM SLAM is a battle of the bands for high school musicians hosted by The Maine Academy of Modern Music and Portland Music Foundation. For the first time, solo performers (singer-songwriters and DJs) can also compete in showcasing their songwriting, performance skills, web presence, marketing, signature appearance and other aspects of being a professional, touring and recording musician.
Register on www.mainetoday.com/mammslam up until March 1. Prelims will be held March 29 at Bayside Bowl and finals are May 10 at Asylum. The winner have a chance to win $1,000, sponsored by the Rusty Rocket Foundation, along with recording time, TV appearances, radio play, plum gigs and professional marketing direction.
“If you’re a serious young musician, this is a great way to gain exposure and network with local musicians and industry professionals. Past winners have used their packages to record albums and stake a claim in the local music scene,” said MAMM Executive Director Jeff Shaw.
The MAMM SLAM is sponsored by MaineToday.com, Coffee By Design, Crooked Cove, State Theatre, AO Guitars and Gateway Mastering, with support from WCYY, WBLM, Maine Magazine and WPXT-TV.
