SCARBOROUGH — Dr. Cecilia Caldwell and Dr. Barbara Slager, both of Coastal Women’s Healthcare in Scarborough, were chosen for inclusion in Down East Magazine’s “Maine TopDocs Physician Survey 2014” as two of the top physicians in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
Caldwell and Slager were chosen through a peer review in which Maine doctors were asked who they would go to for help if their own family members had health concerns in the specified areas.
Dr. Caldwell, a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, has a special interest in obstetrics, adolescent care and menopause. She received her medical degree from Pennsylvania State University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Rhode Island. In 1988, she completed her residency at Maine Medical Center where she also served her internship. Caldwell started her practice in 1989. She has been associated with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists since 1986. A native of Pennsylvania, she now lives in Portland.
Dr. Slager received her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and her undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University. She completed her residency at Maine Medical Center. Slager is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist with special interest in adolescent well-woman visits, high- and low-risk obstetrics, cervical pathology and colposcopy, and contraceptive counseling. She was recently named one of Maine’s Women to Watch in 2013 by Mainebiz. Her professional affiliations include the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Maine Medical Association. Slager started her practice in 2002. She lives with her family in Gorham.
“Coastal Women’s Healthcare continually focuses on being patient-centered,” said Bev Neugebauer, executive director. “We are thrilled to see that our physicians and care teams have made a positive impression on other physicians in Maine. We will continue to provide high quality care to our patients for years to come.”
