SANFORD — With the municipal budget season imminent, the city council on Tuesday approved seven appointments.
Under the Sanford charter that went into effect a year ago, four community members are appointed to the budget committee, along with three councilors.
Public members include 2013 member Wesley Davie, who works for a Portsmouth, N.H. consulting group dealing with education, health and human services; investment advisor James Drummey, who has served on Sanford’s warrant and finance committees; financial planner Lange Hoenig; and former school committee member Don Jamison, who is a project engineer for Fed-Ex.
City council members named to the budget committee are Mayor Tom Cote, Deputy Mayor Maura Herlihy and Councilor Alan Walsh.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
