OGUNQUIT — The Maine Fallen Heroes Foundation will host the 2018 “Ruck for our Fallen” from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 on Ogunquit Beach.
The event will take place during Ogunquit’s Oktoberfest Weekend. All are welcome to attend. Same-Day Registration opens at 9 a.m. at the North Beach parking lot.
This inaugural event replaces the Run for the Fallen Maine & Maine Fallen Heroes Foundation annual running event. Rucking is basically walking with a pack on your back with various weights in them.
This event is being held to support the families of our fallen military and first responder heroes from Maine. The Maine Fallen Heroes Foundation helps the families of our fallen with emergencies and college scholarships.
Many families of our fallen are expected to attend this event including Corporal Eugene Cole’s family who will be our honorary guests.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
