SACO – Keith Doyon has had dogs his entire life, but there’s never been one like Sadie.

Sadie, a 7-year-old, 20 pound tri-colored beagle has been his constant companion since she was a puppy. That is until Oct. 29, when she went missing from a friend’s home on Stuart Street. Doyon went inside for a moment while Sadie was on the porch, and then she was gone.

“It took about 30 seconds and that’s all it took,” said Doyon.

Doyon said Sadie was an amazing hunting dog, and a Facebook page devoted to Sadie shows several pictures of the two enjoying outdoor activities, such as boating and relaxing on the beach together. Doyon said Sadie didn’t need to be leashed, and stayed by him under voice control.

He said since Sadie’s been gone, he’s been miserable.

“I don’t have kids, so that was my kid, you know,” he said. “She’s a sweet little dog.”

Doyon said he hired a tracking dog service to track Sadie’s scent, which was traced from the friend’s home through the woods to the Route 112 area and across Saco to the Pine Street area.

Doyon believes Sadie is still alive. He said it began raining a few hours after she went missing, and Sadie hates rain. Doyon thinks that she probably wanted to get out of the rain, and since she is such a “super-lovable” animal, she may have been taken in by someone who decided to keep her as their own, who is taking good care of her but may not realize how much she is missed.

Doyon said he’s talked to two mediums, both who have said Sadie’s alive and well, and living with a woman.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for the physical return of Sadie, and a $200 reward for any information that leads to her return.

Hundreds of flyers have been distributed, and a Facebook page has been set up with information on Sadie called Bring Sadie Home.

“As a beagle momma, I hope you find your baby. I walked & drove around hoping against hope I’d find her for you over the holiday when I was in town…Still praying,” wrote a follower of the Facebook page.

Information on Sadie has also been posted on the Saco Police Department Facebook page. Information on Sadie has also been posted on the Facebook page for Maine Lost Dog Recovery, a network volunteers who work to help find lost dogs.

Anyone with any information about Sadie is asked to call Doyon at 850-0249.
