PORTLAND (AP) — Maine’s health and human service agency will receive more than $9 million to improve crime victim services in the state.
The money totals nearly $9.5 million and is coming from the federal Department of Justice Crime Victims Fund.
Maine U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King say the money will help crime assistance organizations in the state help victims recover more successfully.
The senators say federal Victims of Crime Act assistance money is usually awarded competitively by the state to local organizations that provide services to crime victims.
