DURHAM — Two York County men have died and a third was being treated for multiple injuries after their pick-up truck collided with a dump truck on Route 9 around 7:15 a.m. today.
The pick-up truck was exiting Rabbit Road when it hit the dump truck. The pick-up caught fire after the collision and passersby pulled the men from inside the burning truck, said Maine Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland.
Malakai Cawood, 21, of Limington and Brandon Harthorn, 24, of Cornish died of their injuries at the scene McCausland said in a news release. Jeremy Reardon, 35, of Buxton was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
The three men in the pick-up truck were employees of Plowman Construction of Gorham and were on their way to a job site in the area.
The driver of the dump truck, Clifton Larrabee of Durham was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland .
McCausland said more interviews will be conducted to determine which man was the driver of the 2003 Chevrolet pick-up truck
