SANFORD — Registration for the Sanford-Springvale YMCA’s Early Learning Program is now open.
The program provides year-round care from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Y is currently accepting registrations with limited spaces available in the program.
The Early Learning Center offers a newly renovated 2,440 square foot customized classroom space enhanced with designated literacy, art and dramatic play centers.
“We are very proud of the innovative opportunities to learn, explore, and discover that our new learning environment provides early learners,” said Matt Ouellette, the Y’s Youth and Family Services Director.
This program environment provides preschoolers with daily discovery opportunities and the ability to interact with the world around them, Ouellette said
Preschoolers engage in activities like swimming, creative art projects, music and movement activities, story time and outdoor play, as well as regular field trips and weekly excursions to the local library for “read and romp” time.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
