DAYTON — A homeowner kicked a suspect in the face early Saturday when he caught the individual trying to break into his vehicle.

Maine State Police on Sunday said a 16-year-old has been charged with breaking into a car on Brookside Drive.

State police Troop A put out the word they were looking for the suspect on social media Saturday. Police reported the break-in took place around 1 a.m. that day.

According to the report, the homeowner interrupted the burglary and a confrontation took place.

Police are asking for folks to be on the lookout. They said the suspect was kicked in the face by the homeowner and might have a bruise.

Police recovered a Gary Fisher mountain bike near the scene. Troopers believe the bicycle was either owned or stolen by the suspect.
