SANFORD — A Sanford man reported missing Thursday has been found by the Knox County Sheriff ’s Office.
Romeo Lapierre was found in his car but the town he was found in was not specified, according to Sanford Police.
Police had asked motorists and others statewide on Thursday to be on the lookout for the man, who failed to return from a trip to Gardiner.
Lapierre, whom police said suffers from multiple medical issues and did not have medication with him, dropped his wife off at an address in Gardiner at about 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Lapierre was scheduled to drive back to Sanford that afternoon. His wife contacted neighbors to check on him, and found that he had not returned.
Sanford Police Corporal Mark Dyer said Lapierre has significant hearing loss and other medical issues. He does not have a cell phone.
Lapierre is OK but disoriented, according to Dyer. At press time, he was being checked by local emergency personnel. His family has been notified.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
