HOLLIS — Maine Warden Service divers resumed efforts this morning to recover the body of a 19- year-old Hollis Center man from Long Lake in Bridgton. Game Warden Cpl. John MacDonald said a Warden Service aircraft would be utilized to help with recovery efforts.
Just before noon Wednesday, the man, who has not been identified, was riding on the front of a pontoon boat on Long Lake when he fell overboard and went under the vessel.
Passengers on the boat said the man came in contact with the boat after he fell, MacDonald said. Passengers told wardens they saw him floating briefly before disappearing beneath the surface of the water. He was not wearing a lifejacket, MacDonald said in a statement.
The man was a passenger in a rented pontoon boat with seven others, MacDonald said, including three adults, two teenagers and two toddlers. The families are from Maine and Texas.
Divers attempted a recovery on Wednesday, but were unsuccessful.
