SANFORD — Every Tuesday from 1:30-3 p.m., community volunteers meet at the York County Community Action Corp. office complex at 6 Spruce St., Sanford, to knit hats, scarves, mittens and gloves for children.

The small group began their weekly meetings late last spring as a project of the York County Community Action community volunteer program. The knitting materials are all donated, and the completed items are distributed to families with children through the YCCAC Children’s Services program.

Those interested in joining the knitting group or who have questions about other YCCAC volunteer opportunities may contact Andrew Lederer at 324- 5762, ext. 2935.
