LEWISTON — Some 440 students are receiving degrees at Bates College’s 145th commencement at 10 a.m. today.
Diplomas are being awarded to students from 35 states and 42 countries.
Honorary degrees are being awarded Bates pianist Frank Glazer, MIT inventor Robert S. Langer and Harvard College dean Evelynn Hammonds.
Also speaking is outgoing President Elaine Tuttle Hansen, who is leaving after nine years at the college. Hansen has been appointed executive director of the Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University.
