ELLSWORTH — The Saco Little League 8-10 year old softball All-Stars rolled to a 13-3 win in four innings over District 2 champion Oceanside in their opening round game of the state tournament on Friday.
The District 4 champs opened the game with three runs in the first inning and Saco would add four runs in the top of the third to take control.
The Saco All-Stars would put the game away in the fourth inning as they batted around and put six more runs on the board.
Oceanside scored one run in the first and two runs in the third.
Renee Gonneville led Saco with four hits and Annabelle Fournier added three hits in the win.
Saco would get two hits from Sophia Bogardus, Allison Marines and Kaitlynn Paradis.
Jessica Dow took the circle for Saco and would finish the outing with an impressive 12 strikeouts.
The Saco All-Stars will take the field at 2 p.m. today for their second game of pool play. The two teams with the best records coming out of pool play will play for the state championship.
