On behalf of Literacy Volunteers of Greater Sanford, thank you very much to everyone who took part in and supported our 17th Annual Student Recognition Dinner on June 2!
We were delighted to celebrate our students and tutors and to hear from students Sean Hill and Nicole Milo, who were recognized for their achievements and progress; Tutor Donna Benson, who was recognized with Sean Hill and also led a literacy activity; and Alicia Shortill, who received the Denis Forest Tutor Award.
Special thanks to our guest speaker, Sanford Mayor Tom Cote, for his inspiring speech; Gina and her team at Above and Beyond Catering for great food and hospitality; and Kennebunk Savings for sponsoring the event.
We are so grateful to the many people and businesses that support our mission to offer free, one-on-one literacy tutoring to adults in the community.
Thank you one and all!
Ingrid Baily

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
