From the Journal Tribune: “Jen Dutremble was thinking of her Pepe as the ball said into the night in the top of the seventh inning. Justine McCurry took her Nina to the plate with her when she went to bat with the game on the line in the top of the 11th. In fact, the entire Biddeford High School softball roster not only played this Western Man Class A softball semifinal for themselves but for each other, but they also dedicated their respective efforts to other important people in their lives and then posted that list inside their dugout.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “A 70-year-old Biddeford man, Areadius Boucher of Elm Street, escaped serious injury this morning when he was knocked down on Main Street, Biddeford, by a vehicle that police said was operated by Francis T. Green, 29, of Waterboro. He told police that the man was brushed by the car and refused medical treatment.”
100 years ago
From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “Mrs. James Fletcher of the lower Pool road was thrown from her carriage last evening about 6 o’clock while driving from the city, striking her head and shoulders, the blow rendering her unconscious for 10 minutes or more. At first, it was feared she was seriously hurt, but reports from the Fletcher home this morning state that while she is bruised and shaken up, no serious injuries have occurred.”
