But news of an industrial company’s plans to relocate to Biddeford unexpectedly launched a sharp debate over whether city government should protect the right of the firm’s employees to organize.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “Biddeford firefighters were kept busy over the past 48 hours with several small blazes in the city. Burning a junked car set a field on fire on Beaudoin Avenue early today and a booster line was required to quell the blaze.”

100 years ago

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “A proposition put forward a week or so ago that the commission in charge of the manufacturers league be increased to five members instead of three, looks good to those in charge and it is possible that some action will be taken at the meeting of the commission and the managers which is to be held tonight at 7:30 o’clock, when the vacancy caused by the resignation of Ralph H. Burbank will also be filled.”
