BUCKFIELD — The Old Orchard Beach baseball and softball teams traveled to Buckfield on Thursday and the Seagulls came away with a season opening split.
The OOB baseball team picked up a win, while the Lady Gulls fell to the Bucks.
Baseball OOB 17, Buckfield 6
Joey McCullum went 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs to lead the Seagulls to a seasonopening win.
Jon Gillis and Dustin Brown had two hits each for OOB, which also got four walks from Kyle Allen in the win.
Evan O’Donnell, Kyle Allen and Payton Blanchette shared the pitching duties for OOB.
Softball Buckfield 16, OOB 6
Madison Belanger nearly hit for the cycle, but it wasn’t enough for the Lady Gulls.
Belanger finished the game with a single, double, triple and two RBIs in the loss. OOB would also get two singles, a double and two RBIs from Eryca Leclerc.
Morgan Howlett-Brown, who tossed a complete game and had six strikeouts, finished with a double and two RBIs at the plate.
OOB’s Tiffany Leclair had two singles and Maegan Halle added a double in the loss.
