FREEPORT — The Old Orchard Beach girls basketball team dropped to 4-2 on the season as Freeport picked up a 56-46 win over the Lady Gulls on Saturday.

Brianna Plante led the way for OOB with 15 points and four assists. Emily Greenlee added nine points and Maggie Strohm finished with eight in the loss.

OOB will visit St. Dominic Academy tonight.

Thornton Academy 41, Bangor 33

The Thornton Academy girls basketball team topped visiting Bangor on Saturday.

Alex Hart led the way with 22 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five steals. Alana Pettaway also chipped in seven points in the win.

Wrestling Three Warriors win titles

A trio of Wells wrestlers brought home titles from the Nokomis Warrior Clash over the weekend.

Michael Wrigley (182), Nolan Potter (220) and Sean McCormack-Kuhman (285) would all capture championships as they helped Wells finish fourth in the team standings.

Craig Chase finished second for the Warriors at 106 pounds, while Ryan Norton (120), Drew Peters (170) and Jonah Potter (195) all took fourth in the tourney.

Oxford Hills won the title with Nokomis second and Skowhegan third.

Boys Hockey                                                                                 

South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete 4, Massabesic/Bonny Eagle/Old Orchard Beach, 1

MOB dropped a tough game against visiting South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete on Saturday afternoon at the University of Southern Maine.

 Ajay Catas scored MOB’s lone goal in the third period while Tyler Ouellette picked up the assist.

CHEVERUS 102, SANFORD 82

Joshua Webber picked up a win for Sanford in the 100 yard backstroke while Marcus Gould picked up a second-place finish in the 50 yard free. Mark Wilson finished second in the 100 yard butterfly.

Girls Swimming                                                                 

CHEVERUS 116, SANFORD 48

Hannah Couture picked up a first-place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke while teammate Tiffany Twombly finished second in the 200 yard free.

Couture later finished second in the 200 yard IM, and Twombly would take second in the backstroke.
