Saco residents soon will benefit by recent council actions that will reinforce transparency in our local official transactions and discourse. For years, the public was unable to hear or see what was presented at council or school board meetings. Come April, citizens will see a change. The council approved spending funds to replace the audio/visual equipment in the city hall auditorium. The funds were provided through the current budget.
The Saco Citizens for Sensible Government (SCSG) recognizes the council and employees for moving forward on this project. Transparency is an important function of government operations. This upgrade will benefit all citizens as they will be able to hear and see presentations during the meetings.
The SCSG group invites citizens to be aware that there is an ability to watch council and school board meetings on the Saco City website at one’s convenience. Here is the link for future reference: townhallstreams.com/ locations/saco-me.
If you have any questions or concerns about what is occurring within the city or school department, it is important to reach out to your respective ward council or school board person. If you are unsure, call the city clerk’s office. The number is 284-4831.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
