BUXTON — A Biddeford man stopped for plowing snow in the street in Buxton was sent to federal custody after it was discovered he was an illegal resident, according to police.

Cpl. Frank Pulsoni of the Buxton Police stopped a pick-up truck that was plowing snow onto Skip Road on Friday morning, according to police. 

Further investigation revealed the driver, Juan Cruz Mendez, 37, of Biddeford, was operating under habitual offender revocation.

Mendez was arrested on the charge of operating under habitual offender revocation and transported to the police station and made bail on this charge, according to police.

Buxton Officer Scott Camire discovered that Mendez is a Mexican national and has been in the United States without proper paperwork since 1995.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were contacted and Cruz was later transferred to federal custody pending the deportation process, according to police.
