PORTLAND — Cheverus High was forced to scramble to remain undefeated Tuesday night, recovering from a halftime deficit to down Deering 43-36 in a Southern Maine Activities Association boys’ basketball game at Deering High.

Louie DiStasio scored 15 points for the Stags (17-0), who rallied from a 20-17 halftime deficit.

Matt Cimino had nine points and Brady Griffin added eight for Cheverus, which led by one point with three minutes left, then pulled away with foul shots as Deering was victimized by turnovers and missed shots.

Labson Abwoch had 15 points and Jackson Frey finished with eight for the Rams.

 

WAYNFLETE 38, WELLS 36: The Flyers (10-5) took a 24-18 lead into the fourth quarter and held off the Warriors (10-7) at Portland.

Joe Veroneau led a balanced offense for Waynflete with nine points. Chris Burke and Mitch Newlen each contributed seven.

Paul McDonough led Wells with nine points.

 

GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 37, ACADIA CHRISTIAN 28: Ben Hammond recorded his 16th straight double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Lions (3-13) against the Seahawks (0-15) at Trenton.

Jordan Peters added 10 points for the Lions, who never trailed after taking the lead in the second quarter.

Matt Clark paced Acadia Christian with 16 points.

BONNY EAGLE 60, WESTBROOK 44: Dustin Cole had 31 points and six steals to help the Scots (14-3) pull away from the Blue Blazes (11-6) at Standish.

Cole Libby added 13 points, and Jeff Amell grabbed eight rebounds and played a strong defensive game for the Scots, who opened a 44-38 lead through three quarters after a 27-27 halftime tie.

Sean Murphy paced Westbrook with 15 points on five 3-pointers.

 

SANFORD 67, NOBLE 50: Ryan Camire scored 23 points to lead the Redskins (4-13) over Noble (3-14) at Sanford.

Sanford took control in the third quarter, outscoring the Knights 22-12 after leading 27-25 at halftime. Alex Shain added 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Mitch Edmunds scored 12 points and Brady Dodge had 11 for Noble.

 

YORK 57, FALMOUTH 45: Aaron Todd had 21 points to spark the Wildcats (13-4) over the Yachtsmen (8-9) at Falmouth.

Liam Langaas added 13 points for York.

Jack Cooleen led Falmouth with 15 points.

MARSHWOOD 69, MASSABESIC 30: Jack Verrill had 17 points and nine rebounds as the Hawks (9-8) defeated the Mustangs (1-16) at South Berwick.

Addison Casey finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Matthew Crosby had 11 points for the Hawks, who outscored the Mustangs 43-13 over the middle quarters.

Ryan Dodge scored 10 points for Massabesic.

 

THORNTON ACADEMY 33, SCARBOROUGH 31: Andrew Shaw hit a pivotal 3-pointer that gave Thornton Academy (14-3) the lead for good in the fourth quarter against the Red Storm (8-9) at Scarborough.

Zach Bean scored a game-high 12 points for Scarborough, which led by as many as five points in the second half.

 

CAMDEN HILLS 86, GARDINER 50: Tyler McFarland scored 16 of his 22 points in the first half for the Windjammers (17-0), who took a 42-19 lead and breezed past the Tigers (12-5) at Rockport.

McFarland also finished with nine rebounds.

Nathan Catell added 15 points, Joel Gabriel 14 and Keegan Pieri 13 for Camden Hills.

Aaron Tilman paced Gardiner with 14 points.

GREELY 91, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 42: Sam Johnston scored a game-high 24 points, and Michael McDevitt and Tanner Storey each grabbed 10 rebounds as the Rangers (15-2) downed the Patriots (10-7) at Cumberland.

Johnston scored 16 points in the third quarter as Greely outscored the Patriots 35-7 to extend a 38-23 halftime lead.

Storey added 17 points and McDevitt had 14.

Ryan Cavallaro scored 19 points and Adam Jensen added 17 to pace Gray-New Gloucester.

TRAIP ACADEMY 70, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 51: Nathan Westman scored 24 points to lead Traip Academy (9-8) over North Yarmouth Academy (9-8) at Kittery.

Westman scored 11 points during a 24-7 run in the third quarter that opened a 49-28 lead. Mark McKenney finished with 12 points for Traip.

Andrew Esancy scored 21 points and Mike Ianno had 12 for NYA.

 

ST. DOMINIC 46, WISCASSET 36: Joe Bryant scored a game-high 26 points for the Saints (8-9), who built a 34-23 lead entering the fourth quarter and upset Wiscasset (13-4).

Tom Applegate added 14 points for the Saints, who led 23-15 at halftime.

BIDDEFORD 65, KENNEBUNK 44: Robert Cote had 12 points as the Tigers (7-10) defeated the Rams (5-12) at Biddeford.

Mike Lachance added 11 points, and Nathan McKeown and Chance Baldino chipped in nine apiece for Biddeford.

Vann Brazz scored a game-high 20 points for Kennebunk.

LINCOLN ACADEMY 66, ROCKLAND 37: Brandon Reilly scored 20 points and Everett Martin added 16 to lead the Eagles (9-8) past the Tigers (4-13) at Newcastle.

 

WINDHAM 75, GORHAM 72: Nolan Allen scored nine of his game-high 31 points in the fourth quarter as the Eagles (8-9) closed on a 23-16 run to rally past the Rams (3-14) at Gorham.

Carter Bowers scored 25 points and Andy Turner added 17 to pace Gorham, which outscored Windham 24-9 in the third quarter to build a 56-52 lead.

 

LAKE REGION 67, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 60: Danny Place made six 3-pointers and finished with 25 points, and Alex Hartford added 13 points and 19 rebounds for the Lakers (5-12), who built a 39-22 halftime lead and held off the Raiders (3-14) at Naples.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 47, OAK HILL 46: Shane Osier scored 12 points and John Murray had 10 as the Panthers (13-4) edged the Raiders (3-14) at Waldoboro.

 

POLAND 66, FREEPORT 57: Jake Littlefield scored 26 points to lead the Knights (7-10) over the Falcons (0-17) at Poland.

Jonah Farrington added 13 points for Poland, which connected on 10 3-pointers.

 

CAPE ELIZABETH 61, YARMOUTH 39: Theo Bowe scored 15 points for Cape Elizabeth (13-4), which used a 20-6 run in the third quarter to open a 47-26 lead against the Clippers (13-4) at Yarmouth.

Chris Robicheaw added 13 points, and Cam Brown and Joey Doane each had 11 for the Capers.
