From the Journal Tribune: “City officials are envisioning a renaissance downtown, with 700 graduate students living and studying there, while supporting a thriving group of local businesses. The only catch is finding enough money to bring the students to the city. For nearly a decade, the University of New England has been planning to develop a school for Pharmacy which would offer a four-year Doctor of Pharmacy degree, a Pharm D, allowing graduates to work as a pharmacist at any pharmacy or in a research capacity. Like UNE, the school would be non-profit and would fill an emerging need in the state.”

50 years ago

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “Damages of $1,000 and costs were assessed against Stanley W. Kozloff, Saco, in a civil lawsuit for the conversion of a trailer before Justice James P. Archibald in the York County Superior Court. Justice Archibald ruled that payment for the house trailer had been made to the defendant but that he had refused permission for the Blaisdells to remove it from his land, which is a conversion.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “The minstrels at the First Parish will be the grand attraction of the two cities tomorrow night. This is heralded to be one of the greatest shows of the kind ever put on in the two cities. There are four of the endman and they say the chorus is the best ever assembled for years.”
