BIDDEFORD — Three Biddeford residents were arrested Tuesday and charged with drug trafficking following two unrelated, months-long Maine Drug Enforcement Agency investigations.

Arrested as a result of the first investigation, which began in September, were Jeffrey Davis, 30, and Kerry Burgess, 27, who live at 72 Green St., Maine State Police Spokesman Stephen McCausland said in a statement released this morning. Both were charged with aggravated trafficking in cocaine and taken to York County Jail in Alfred, he said .

Davis’ bail was set at $25,000 cash, and Burgess’ bail was set at $1,000 cash.

Also arrested Tuesday as a result of a separate investigation, which began in October, was Charmagn Cody, 32, of Chapel Street, who was charged with aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine, said McCausland. Undercover drug agents purchased crack cocaine from Cody a number of times in Clifford and Canopy parks, he said.

Cody was taken to York County Jail, where her bail was set at $2,000.

Davis and Burgess were arrested on aggravated charges because their Green Street apartment, from which they allegedly sold cocaine, sits within 1,000 feet of St. James School, said McCausland. The aggravating factor in Cody’s arrest was her alleged sale of crack cocaine in parks designated as Drug Free Safe Zones, he said.

Officers from the Biddeford Police Dept.’s Street Crimes Unit assisted the MDEA in both investigations.
