BIDDEFORD — David P. Genest, 54, of Biddeford, passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Portland following a long illness.

He was born Feb. 5, 1961, in Biddeford, a son of Fernand H. “Red” and Germaine M.R. (Bisson) Genest. He was educated locally and graduated from Biddeford High School with the class of 1980.

On June 14, 2000, he married Brandy DeWitt at Bay View beach in Saco.

Mr. Genest had been employed at the White Star Laundry and more recently in the environmental services department at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed motorcycling and following NASCAR.

Surviving are: his wife, Brandy Genest of Biddeford; his children, David M. Genest of Biddeford; Miranda Boissonneault and her husband Cory of East Waterboro, Savannah Genest, and Tricen Genest, both of Biddeford; his mother, Germaine Genest of Biddeford; three sisters, Suzanne Wilson and her husband Bruce of Ohio; Theresa Haile and her husband Larry of Florida, Joanne Elwell and her husband Arik of Biddeford; one brother, Guy F. Genest and his wife Amy of Shapleigh; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours will be 4-6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A graveside service with procession leaving Hope Memorial Chapel at 12:30 p.m. will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 21 at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.
