Two York County legislators, both who serve on the Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee, were poised to tour South Portland-based Texas Instruments this morning as they explore how to lower utility costs for Maine manufacturers.
Sen. David Woodsome, R -Waterboro, and Rep. Martin Grohman, D-Biddeford, say they’re looking for input from manufacturers on the topic.
Today’s tour is part of a broader effort by members of the committee to hear from a wide variety of businesses about the energy challenges they face, according to a joint news release issued Monday. TI is especially relevant, the news release stated, because it competes nationally and internationally in the technology sector.
Woodsome, the Senate chair of the Energy Committee, represents Senate District 33. He is a retired school teacher.
Grohman represents downtown Biddeford, House District 12.
