CLAREMONT, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire police are investigating whether extensive damage with a hatchet done to a Planned Parenthood clinic in Claremont is linked to the word “murderer” being spray-painted on the same building earlier this month.
Claremont Police Chief Alexander Scott says police checking the building early Wednesday apprehended a juvenile inside of it.
Scott said the intruder used a hatchet to destroy computers, plumbing fixtures, phones and medical equipment. The flooding that resulted also damaged a business adjacent to the clinic.
The chief said the clinic had operated in the city 18 years without incident.
Funding for Planned Parenthood has been under attack nationwide since July, when a video was released purporting to depict agency officials discussing the disposition of fetal parts.
