From the Journal Tribune: “After losing its old barn to a suspicious fire last year, Sweetser, an alternative school for children with behavioral problems, is putting the finishing touches on their new and improved structure. Construction began in June and the facility is expected to be functional by Nov. 1.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “A well done pot roast was on the menu Wednesday night for the family of Robert Mattau of Washington Avenue. Firefighters were called to the home at 5 p.m. to find the rooms filled with smoke from a burning pan containing the roast on top of the stove.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “A big gathering of enthusiasts is looked for tomorrow afternoon at the Saco Driving park, when the local football season will be opened. Thornton Academy is due to clash with Kennebunk high in the opening game and word is received from Kennebunk that the school team of that town has been putting in a good deal of time practicing for tomorrow’s game.”
