BATH — The Bath Area Family YMCA will begin offering Livestrong, a research-based physical activity and well-being initiative that helps people affected by cancer reach their health goals, beginning Monday, Nov. 4.

The program is available to cancer survivors and their families in the Midcoast Monday and Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., for 12 weeks.

The classes will be free to participants. During the session, they will receive a complimentary Y membership. Class size is limited to 12 participants per session.

There are still a few openings for the Nov. 4 session.

The Bath Area Family Y is one of six YMCAs in Maine to offer the program — part of a multi-year collaboration between YMCA of the USA, the national resource office for the Y; and the Livestrong Foundation, the organization created to serve people living with cancer and empower communities to take action.
