LISBON
Medical marijuana stores are on hold again in Lisbon.
Lisbon town councilors enacted a new, six-month moratorium on medical marijuana establishments after its previous one expired.
The delay gives town planners time to decide where the establishments could be allowed, and what rules they should have to follow if they are allowed.
“The only reason we’re doing this is because we want to have more time to figure it out,” said Councilor Norm Albert.
Councilors said the ordinance can be lifted before the six months pass. With enough town councilors showing an interest or willingness to consider opting in to medical marijuana facilities, they tentatively planned a workshop with the town planning board on Sept. 13.
The vote was 6-0 in favor of a moratorium, with councilor Chris Brunelle abstaining.
