TOPSHAM — Barbara Joyce Levasseur, age 82, of Topsham, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the Hawthorne House in Freeport.

Barbara was born in Skowhegan on June 2, 1936, the daughter of Stanley A, and Gladys Theo (Bragden) Crystol.

For most of her life, Barbara worked as a chef and manager for the Navy Exchange at the Sage Base in Topsham and then Brunswick Naval Air Station. She and her husband, Louis Levasseur had also owned and operated Loujo’s Store in Topsham.

Barbara was a former member of the United Baptist Church of Topsham, was president of the Evergreens, and a member of the American Legion Post #202 Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing Bingo, Penny Ante Poker, painting, and volunteering for baked bean suppers and loved to have poolside family barbeques. In her later years, Barbara enjoyed wintering in Florida with her great friend, Bee Darling.

She is predeceased by her husband; a son, Mike Levasseur; and two sisters, Constance Cox and

Susan Obrin.

Surviving are her two sons, David Lavasseur and Vaughn Lavasseur, both of Topsham; her daughter, Debbie Jackson of West Bath; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at the Hawthorne House for the outstanding care Barbara received during her time there.

A graveside service will be held at 11AM Friday, August 31, at Rogers Cemetery in Topsham with Pastor Ron McLaughlin officiating.

Arrangements are in the care of the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick.
