Join Merrymeeting Audubon for a little spring cleaning. Come to Hamilton Sanctuary and help clean trails, repair erosion damage and spruce up the memorial garden at this Maine Audubon sanctuary. Freeport’s Freshwater Lake 7 a.m. in Brunswick
Join Merrymeeting Audubon at Florida Lake in Freeport. While small by state standards, this undeveloped pond is Freeport’s largest freshwater body, a rich mix of forested wetlands, swamps and aquatic vegetation. It is prime waterfowl and wading bird habitat, and a stop for migrating songbirds. American Bittern, a species of special concern, breeds in the area. Meet at the Brunswick Hannaford to carpool. Nature Journaling 9 a.m. May 10 in Jefferson
Hidden Valley Nature Center is hosting a nature journaling class. Naturalist Sharon Gallant will guide participants in how to hone observation skills and bring the natural world to life on paper. Scientists, botanists, artists and naturalists across history have recognized the value of keeping careful written and visual records of their observations for centuries. Henry David Thoreau, Bernd Heinrich, Aldo Leopold and others have proven the value of recording what is thriving in our natural surroundings. Participants should come with pencils and a backpack. Youth Outdoor Day

The Royal River Rod and Gun Club in New Gloucester is sponsoring a youth outdoor day for youth ages 10 to 15. Activities include classes in map and compass skills, archery, outdoor survival, fishing and marksmanship. Every participant must be accompanied by a guardian. No cost. All welcome.
