Kittery-based artist Kevin C. Kuehl is showing his photography at Freeport Community Library through August.
Kuehl has had a camera in hand since he was a kid, and started off by making silly movies with friends. These shenanigans eventually led to a bachelors degree from Australia, a job at Bad Robot Productions, and into the mountains of Maine to hike some of the Appalachian Trail, which was where he fell in love with photography.
Kevin attempts to slow things down, to capture the beauty in every nook and cranny of nature, to make strangers feel happy with how they look. He likes an excuse to wander. Going to take some pictures has become an ideal way of going forth and forging new experiences. It is hard for him not to envision life as a movie, and frame a sunset, a wave, a couple walking by in this context. Photography is a way of distilling these moments.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
