A Bowdoin College van believed to have been stolen Sunday morning was responsible for damage at the Mere Creek Golf Club’s course.
Brunswick police are looking for help identifying a suspect in the matter, characterized as aggravated criminal mischief in a Facebook post by the department. Police posted photos and a video of a “person of interest,” noting that the individual may have been walking or hitchhiking on Route 123 in Harpswell in the area of High Head Road at around 5 a.m.
According to Brunswick Police Cmdr. Mark Waltz, the 2008 Ford Econoline van was believed to have been taken from Bowdoin property sometime between 2-5 a.m. Sunday. He declined to release the exact address from which the vehicle was taken.
The van was then driven on the Mere Creek golf course, police said, which caused damaged. Waltz declined to release the extent of the damage.
Police are in possession of the van, but did not provide information about when or where it was recovered.
