To the Editor:
Beginning across from Lisbon High School, Route 9 climbs gently to a height of land approximately halfway between Lisbon Falls and Sabattus. If the season is anything but summer, white-capped mountains to the west will demand a second peek, and sunsets at any time of the year are incredibly beautiful. If the timing is right, a big orange globe of a moon will be rising in the evening sky to the east. This area offers the best views in the town of Lisbon and affords the passing traveler a moment of reflection on why we live in Maine.
On Tuesday, Nov. 5, the decision will be in your hands.
They cannot take this place of land and sky away from you. You are being asked to relinquish it and pay $1.75 million for the privilege.
Don’t do it. Vote “no” on Question 2, the water tank bond.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
