He served in the U.S. Army from 1959- 1961. Bill worked at Bath Iron Works for over 40 years, retiring in 2004 to enjoy the great outdoors with his wife, Ann. He looked forward to family get-togethers, summers, holidays and special occasions.
Some of his greatest joys were time with his son, particularly his son’s bowling leagues. Later he kept up with great enthusiasm with his grandsons’ activities. He was very proud to see them grow and succeed in their chosen work as young adults.
Bill treated everyone with acceptance just as they are and was well-liked by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years; a son, Roger (Mary); two grandsons, Wesley and Aaron; two brothers, Richard and Robert; two sisters, Sally Hutchings (Charles) and Elizabeth Grimard (Lawrence). Bill always looked forward to seeing all his nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at New Meadows Cemetery.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
