Daniel E. Hatch, age 91, died on Aug. 23, 2015. He was born on Feb. 27, 1924, in Bath, ME, the third son of Robert B. and Clara Pierce Hatch.

Dan is survived by, his loving wife Anne Hatch along with his children, James Hatch of Fredericksburg, VA, Nancy Hatch of Rolla, MO and Anne’s daughters, Nancy Guest of Brockton, MA, Suzi Souza of Lenox, MA and Tracey Bumann of Tewksbury, MA whom he loved dearly. Dan and Anne shared their love with 14 grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. Dan and Anne spent many happy summers at their cottage on Popham Beach.

Dan attended Bath schools and graduated from Morse High School class of 1942. In 1942, he entered the University of Maine but left the following January to enlist in the U.S. Army Air Force and participated in the invasion and occupation of Okinawa and later to Korea as occupation forces. Dan reentered the University of Maine and in 1949 received a B.S. degree in electrical engineering. In 1959, Dan received a MSEE from Northeastern University. Dan enjoyed a 36-year career at Raytheon Co. in Waltham and Bedford, MA, retiring in 1989 as a lead engineer.

Dan was active in community affairs throughout his life. He was a member of Congregational Church in Bedford, MA, where he served on the Board of Deacons and several supporting committees. In his younger years, he coached Little League baseball and basketball. Dan served as a trustee of the Popham Chapel in Phippsburg and in several volunteer capacities in The Highlands Retirement Community in Topsham where he and his wife Anne lived.

Dan was an avid sports fan. At an early age he became a loyal Red Sox fan by listening to their games on the radio. Remaining a loyal fan for many years, he was delighted to have lived long enough to experience the Red Sox winning the World Series in 2004 and 2007. He also enjoyed playing golf, especially at Sebasco Lodge with his many friends in the area.

A memorial service will be held at the Popham Chapel in Phippsburg, ME, on Sept. 26, 2015, at 3 p.m.
