LISBON FALLS — Michael “Mike” G. Bohunicky, 84, of Lisbon Falls, passed away at Clover Manor Health Care on Aug. 27, 2015.

He was born in Palmerton, PA, on Sept. 3, 1930, the son of Stefan and Katarina (Mihok) Bohunicky. He attended local schools and graduated from S.S. Palmer High School in 1948 before attending and graduating from Allentown Business College in 1950. After college he served his country in the U.S. Navy until 1955. He married his wife Florence (Gauvin) Bohunicky on July 19, 1954, and they were married for 61 years.

Mike served the Lisbon Community Credit Union for many years acting in the role of president and director emeritus. He had an active role at Holy Family Church as lector, CCD instructor, Parish Council and advisory board. Mike was most proud of his military service and being able to serve his country, and being the co-founder of the Merrymeeting Toastmaster Club # 4750 Brunswick serving as past area governor, district secretary and treasurer. He was a member of Lisbon Falls Slovak Club where he was secretary for 48 years.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Florence, two sons Mark (Patricia) and Paul (Kristen); a sister Ethel Desousa, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers Joseph and Stephen Bohunicky, and three sisters Mary Brich, Josephine Stashkiw and Helen Glose.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church in Lisbon. A committal will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lisbon Falls. You may make donations in Mike’s name to The Slovak Club, 26 Avery St., Lisbon Falls, ME 04252.
