BRUNSWICK — Polls are open until 8 p.m. at Brunswick Junior High School on Columbia Avenue today for a second school budget validation vote.
Voters already approved the schools’ $35 million budget for 2014 on June 11.
However, because changes in the state budget affected local school funding after the vote was taken, residents now have to repeat the process.
The town of Brunswick received an additional $508,000 from the state; however, all but $67,000 will be used to fund the shift of teacher retirement planning from the state to local school districts.
Officials said the remainder will be used for a facilities planning study.
