Mid Coast businesses and organizations are coming forward to support the fourth annual Mid Coast Veterans Council Golf tournament, Aug. 21, at the Brunswick Golf Club.
The tournament is the major fundraising event for the Mid Coast Veterans Council. The council operates the Mid Coast Veterans Resource Center, which provides resources for veterans’ services as well as the opportunity to obtain services from the Veterans Administration and other veterans’ service organizations in the Mid-coast area. The center located at Brunswick Landing.
Corporate sponsors include McKean Defense Group, Central Maine Medical Center and the Morten Andersen Family Foundation. Hole sponsors include the Vietnam Veterans of America, Goodwin Chevrolet-Mazda, Servpro of Bath/Brunswick, Molnlycke Manufacturing and John and Jodie Clark.
According to a statement from McKean: “McKean Defense Group is deeply committed to the communities where we work and live. From gathering and distributing school supplies to needy children, to participating in bicycle races that support Wounded Warrior programs, our employees actively participate in a variety of charitable events and volunteerism opportunities. These organizations represent the current programs our company and employees support.”
Registration begins at 8 a.m. The tournament begins with colors and a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Light refreshments will be served at registration.

Registration will close at 24 foursomes. For those without a foursome, the tournament will arrange play with other golfers.
Cost for the tournament is $85 per golfer, $340 for a foursome. Several team openings remain.
Prizes include a Toyota Prius for a hole in one at Hole 4 during and $2,000 for a holein one during the putting contest. The car is provided by Lee Toyota of Topsham.
Other prizes include merchandise donated by businesses including Cabellas and Wild Oats.
