BRUNSWICK
A dog died in a fire that broke out in a mobile home on Madeline Drive in Brunswick Friday afternoon.
The fire was reported at 26 Madeline Drive at 2:15 p.m. and drew firefighters from five towns.
Brunswick Fire Chief Ken Brillant said the homeowner lives there alone with his pets and was gone when the fire broke out. The dog died and firefighters didn’t find the cat.
Brillant said crews knocked down the fire very quickly but the home sustained serious heat and smoke damage throughout. The home is owned by Dan London and was insured.
Brillant said the fire was accidental, caused by an electrical appliance of some sort that was plugged in inside the home.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
