BATH’S PITMAN-MORRISON POST 7738 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America and their Auxiliary were awarded a National Outstanding Community Service Post Award at the 116th National Convention in Pittsburgh in July. The post sent three representatives, each veterans of either Iraq or Afghanistan, to receive the award in a small ceremony hosted at the David L. Lawrence convention center. The award is presented annually to approximately 60 posts out of the roughly 7,400 worldwide, placing Bath in elite company. Last year, the post donated more than $32,000 to local veterans’ charities and the community and many hours in service through various civic programs. The post has advocates for veterans locally and across the nation by engaging various political leaders, serving on commissions among other activities. Post members hope this award will serve as a catalyst for recruitment, as younger veterans are looking for VFW Posts, which are taking active roles in their community. Questions or requests for interviews should be directed to Kenneth Lambert at (207) 319-3721 or afsnco@hotmail.com.
