
He served in the Army Reserve while working at BIW. He was “Jack of all trades” at Hyde and Lambert parks in Bath, ME where he retired.
He is survived by his sister, Eva Douglas, of Lisbon Falls. Brother Bud Sawyer and his wife Rowena of Topsham. Brother in-law Charlie Williams of Bath. Also survived by daughters Jennifer Cook and her husband Jeffrey of Brunswick. Darci Westie and her husband Eric of Brunswick. Sons Dean Balcier of Bath and Charlie Sawyer of Florida. His longtime friend Dee Saucier, who was there for our family in time of need. The apple of his eye, granddaughter Audrey Sawyer, he was a big part of her life. Britney and Brianna Stevenson, Nicole Sawyer. Grandsons Shawn Ellingwood and Jed Hammond. His great granddaughter Lilly Ellingwood of Durham. Many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Floyde and Emma Sawyer, daughter Susie, son Greg, sisters Mary and Gloria, brother Emery.
He lived a fun and adventurous life. He had a great love for horses as a young man. He was grand champion of Maine in horse showing for many years. He loved hunting and fishing with friends. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 21 and Bath Elks Club 934.
