BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick Junior High eighth- grade baseball team got a breakout performance from Matt Duhaine, who went the distance in a 5-0 win over Tripp.
Duhaine allowed four hits, struck out 10 and talked two.
The offense was paced by Kevin Connolly’s three-run home run in the first, scoring Cal Wilby and Weston Cooper, who both singled. Kalob Thompson also contributed with two hits.
Brunswick scored single runs in the fifth on an RBI ground-out by Connolly, scoring Wilby.
In the seventh, Cooper scored on an RBI single by Sam Masse to make it 5-0.
Duhaine closed the door in the as the Huskies improved to 1-2.
In a loss to rival Mt. Ararat recently. Wilby, Cooper and Masse combined to allow eight hits and 13 walks with nine strikeouts in a tough loss.
Masse was 4-for-5 at the plate with a pair of two-run doubles. Wilby chipped in three hits, while Ollie Hamilton and Kevin Connolly had two hits apiece.
