
While serving in the Coast Guard, he spent four years in Alaska, three years in Puerto Rico, six months with the International Ice Patrol in Argentia, Newfoundland, Canada, three years in the Marine Inspection Office in New York City, two years as the Commanding Officer of the Coast Guard Cutter “Yankton” in South Portland, Maine. He spent over a decade on sea duty aboard ship.
In 1959, he married Elizabeth “Bette” More. They were married for 52 years.
Robert is predeceased by his wife, Bette. Robert is survived by two brothers, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There will be no visiting hours. Interment at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Augusta, will be private.
