BOWDOINHAM — Jacob Cressey tossed a complete game and received plenty of run support as Smith-Tobey Post 21 downed Highland Green of Topsham, 15-5, in an American Legion Zone II baseball game on Thursday.
Played on the new Bowdoinham field, Smith-Tobey made itself comfortable by pounding out 10 hits to improve to 3-13.
Austin Magliozzi had two hits and four RBIs in the win, while Conlon Ranta drove in three runs and Grant Hefler picked up three singles.
Cressey struck out four, walked one and permitted eight hits.
Liam Brannigan homered, tripled and singled to lead Highland Green, which fell to 6-10, but controls its own destiny for the eighth and final playoff spot. Tied with Locke Mills of Bethel, Highland Green owns the tiebreaker. Highland Green visits Augusta on Saturday for a doubleheader to conclude the regular season, while Locke Mills heads to Farmington for two games on Saturday against Franklin County.
Brendan Emmons had two RBIs for Highland, while Kevin Carter and Dylan-Earl Johnson each doubled.
