BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College has released its eightmeet schedule, with the squad opening at the Southern Maine Invitational on Sept. 21 before returning to Brunswick for its lone home competition of the fall — the Bowdoin Invitational on Sept. 28.
The Polar Bears will make a rare out-of-region trip to Indiana for the Hanover College Invitational on Oct. 5.
The championship season will commence on Oct. 12 with the Open New England race at Franklin Park followed by the Maine State Meet at Colby (Oct. 19), the NESCAC Championship at Connecticut College (Nov. 2) and the New England Division III Championship at USM (Nov. 16). Hanover College will also be the host for the NCAA Division III Championship on Nov. 23.
The Bowdoin women finished seventh at the NESCAC Championship last fall and placed 11th at the New England Division III race.
Reaha Goyetche, Maddie Lamo and Madelena Rizzo will captain the women’s cross country squad this season.
The Polar Bear men raced to a third-place finish at the NESCAC Championship and took second overall at the New England regional, qualifying for the NCAA Championship, where they placed 16th. Coby Horowitz, who became the first Polar Bear to win the NESCAC Championship since 2000 and also won the New England Division III regional, will captain the men’s team with Sam Seekins, who earned a runnerup finish at the regional last fall.
