Keegan Brown, Connor Brown and Owen Kelly scored two goals each to power the Mt. Ararat High School boys lacrosse team to a 9-6 victory over Marshwood in a state Class B contest on Saturday.

The Eagles are 4-0 heading into Thursday’s road game against rival Morse at 5 p.m.

Mt. Ararat trailed 2-1 after a quarter. The teams went to the break tied, 4-4, and after three quarters were still deadlocked at 5.

Zach Caouette had four assists in the win, while Connor Brown added a helper. Matt Lawrence and Jake Sargent chipped in a goal and an assist each.

WESTBROOK 15

The Shipbuilders rallied for a state Class B win over the Blue Blazes on Saturday in Bath.

Westbrook and Morse were deadlocked, 4-4, after a quarter, with the Blue Blazes holding a 9-8 lead at the half and a 12-11 advantage after three.

Sheamus Mann powered his way to eight goals and three assists for the Shipbuilders, while Spencer Knowles picked up three goals and a helper, Wyatt Hudson four goals, and Jacob Brochu a goal and two assists.

Brochu also grabbed eight ground balls, while Braden Olsen picked up six. Ethan Pascuzzo won 24-of-31 faceoffs, while long pole Carter Ouellette picked up five ground balls and led with five clears.

In goal, Morse keeper Dylan Maybee had nine saves.

Girls lacrosse

FREEPORT — Freeport came out strong, taking an 11-1 lead in the first half en route to a 15-3 win over Boothbay on Saturday.

The Falcons improved to 2-1 and visits York on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Seahawks fell to 1-1.

Taylor Rinaldi had three goals and two assists, and Taylor Dostie finished with two goals and two assists to lead the Falcons. Chloe Davidson and Margaret Perrotta each had a goal and an assist for Freeport.

MT. ARARAT 9

Visiting North Yarmouth Academy rallied from a three-goal deficit en route to a win over Mt. Ararat in Topsham on Saturday.

The Eagles fell to 0-3 and host Oxford Hills tonight at 6:30 p.m. NYA improved to 1- 2.

Shannon Harty and Jessica Cloutier both had hat tricks for Mt. Ararat, with Casi Perow turning away eight shots in goal.

The visiting Rangers darted out to an 8-2 first-half lead and captured a win over Morse on Saturday on McMann Field in Bath.

The Shipbuilders are 2-1 heading into today’s road game against Messalonskee at Thomas College in Waterville. The game begins at 4 p.m.

Brooke Clement had four goals and two assists to power Greely, while Courtney Sullivan had a hat trick and dished out one helper.

Emily Martin led Morse with two goals and a helper. Emma Warner had a goal and one assist.

In goal, Morse keepers Abby Sreden (seven saves) and Zenaide McCarthy (four saves) combined on 11 stops.

SOUTH PARIS — Oxford Hills jumped out to an early lead and held on to down Mt. Ararat, 5-3, in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference play on Saturday at South Paris.

Troy Johnson had two RBIs for Oxford Hills (3-0).

Mt. Ararat (1-2) began its comeback in the sixth when Nick Merrill tripled and later scored to get the Eagles to 3-1.

The Eagles scored two more runs in the seventh but came up short.

Ben Freeman tossed three solid innings of relief for Mt. Ararat.

Jackson Walker tossed five one-hit innings with nine strikeouts to power the Shipbuilders to a KVAC win over Maine Central Institute on Friday.

Hunter Raedel was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored to power the Morse (1-2) offense, with Austin Magliozzi adding a pair of hits, an RBI and a stolen base.

Owen Williams had the one hit for MCI, while Pedro Matos tossed 6 1/3 innings with two strikeouts and two walks.

Morse hosts Oceanside today at 4 p.m.

BRUNSWICK 1

At Brunswick on Friday, Ethan Brown tossed a three-hitter to power Edward Little (4-0) to a KVAC win over the Dragons.

Sam Sharpe, Zack Grant and Ichino Honda had a hit each for Brunswick, with Honda driving in the lone Dragons run.

Cam Dunton, Cam Daly, Sharpe and Coenradt Taylor each pitched for Brunswick, which visits Camden Hills today at 4:30 p.m.

“We ran into a good team in EL,” said Brunswick coach Craig Rogers. “You can’t play defense giving up 11 walks. However, I’m pleased with our contact, striking out just four times.”

Jake Arel, Grant Hartley and Ben Cassidy had two each for EL.

SPRUCE MTN. 17

The host Phoenix scored early and often in a Mountain Valley Conference contest at Livermore Falls on Friday.

Nick Lombardi launched two home runs in the win, while Landon Brochu doubled. Shane Pelletier singled three times.

Spruce Mountain (2-0) used a pair of seven-run frames to take control.

Ronald Drake had two of the Wolverines’ (0-3) three hits. Wiscasset tallied its first three hits of the season in the third inning.

MT. ABRAM 16

Roadrunner pitchers Hunter Warren and Luke Kearing held the Wolverines (0-4) without a hit in MVC play at Salem on Saturday.

The game was moved from Wiscasset due to unplayable field conditions.

Warren tossed three frames and Kearing two in the mercy-rule win, while Kearing had three hits, including a solo home run.

Wiscasset hosts Winthrop today at 4 p.m.

The host Bobcats improved to 2-0 with an East- West Conference win over Highview Christian on Friday.

Zach Small had a double and four RBIs in the win, while Danny Stewart added a double and drove in five runs.

Richmond returns to action today at Buckfield (4 p.m.), while Highview fell to 0-1.

BRUNSWICK — Edward Little bounced back from an early deficit en route to a 19- 4 KVAC win over the Dragons on Friday.

Shea Sullivan singled in a run, plating Tianna Bernier, and later scored for a 2-1 Brunswick lead after an inning.

But Edward Little (3-1) used seven-run tears in the third and fourth innings to take control.

Grace Beaudet had three hits, drove in two and scored four times to power EL. Taylor Depot, Emmy Lashua and Chantel Ouellette each had three hits in the win.

The visiting Rams struck for four runs in the first and sixth innings en route to a KVAC victory at Brunswick on Saturday.

The Dragons fell to 0-3 and visit Camden Hills today at 4:30 p.m.

Gabriella McGuire led Cony’s offense with three hits and three runs scored, while Carly Lettre had a pair of hits, including a double, and scored three times.

Sullivan singled in the first to score Bernier, and Sullivan later launched a two-run home run over the left-center field fence. Sullivan nearly had two home runs, with Cony outfielder Angelica Velazquez robbing her with an over-the-shoulder catch.

The host Lakers received RBI singles from Julia Murch and Maddie Rock to key an eight-run fourth inning as Lake Region rallied for a WMC win at Naples on Saturday.

The Falcons fell to 0-2 and visit Wells today at 4 p.m.

Brooke Harriman belted a home run for Lake Region to begin a five-run sixth inning.

The game was scoreless through three. In the fourth, Freeport grabbed a 4-0 lead, paced by a three-run double by Alexa Koenig.

Haley Fernald scattered six hits in the win with 10 strikeouts.

The Shipbuilders scored four runs in the second en route to a KVAC win over Maine Central Institute at Pittsfield.

Dory Kulis tossed a one-hit shutout, striking out eight and walking two.

At the plate, Kulis doubled, singled and drove in a pair, while Paige Faulkingham singled, doubled and picked up an RBI.

Sierra Wallace had two singles, with Micailah Albertson, Marissa Parks and Abby Carpenter adding a single each.

Morse is 3-0 and hosts Oceanside today at 4 p.m.
