AUBURN (AP) — Prosecutors say the trial of a Lewiston man charged with running down and killing his pregnant girlfriend in Maine is expected in spring 2016.
Evaristo De Deus is charged with killing his girlfriend, Laudrinha Kubeloso, who was four months pregnant when she was struck and killed by an SUV.
A spokesman for the Office of the Attorney General says a status conference in the case is scheduled for Nov. 30. De Deus pleaded not guilty in Androscoggin County Superior Court in October.
De Deus and Kubeloso were recent asylum seekers from Angola. De Deus later tried to flee to Haiti.
