The following students received awards during St. Lawrence University’s Moving Up Day ceremonies in Canton, New York.
Elizabeth A. Muller of Brunswick. Muller is a member of the Class of 2016 and is majoring in environmental studies. Muller graduated from Brunswick High School. Muller was presented with the Linda Reeves Pettit Endowed Merit Scholarship, which was named in honor of St. Lawrence University’s vice president for University advancement from 1996 to 2001. This scholarship is funded by an endowment established by the Board of Trustees and Linda’s friends to fulfill her wish tht we recognize a special kind of St. Lawrence student-juniors or seniors who did not qualify for a merit award on entry into St. Lawrence, but who have blossomed and, in Linda’s words, found “their academic passion,” with high academic achievement, during their years with us.
Mia S. Thomas of Freeport. Thomas is a member of the Class of 2016 and is majoring in chemistry. Thomas graduated from Freeport High School. Thomas was presented with the Tanner Fellowship Award, which is Tanner Fellowship
Award: Established by family and friends in memory of Tanner Cornwell, son of Peg ‘79 and Grant Cornwell ‘79. The fund seeks to enable students with potential to make a difference and have a positive and creative mark on the world through pursuit of educational experiences not otherwise available to them.
Claire O. Mendes of Brunswick received the Bradley R. Evers ‘94 Outstanding First-Year Student Award. The Bradley R. Evers ‘94 Outstanding First- Year Student Award is granted to first-year students who best exemplify qualities of good citizenship at the University. Mendes is a member of the Class of 2018. She graduated from Brunswick High School.
Emily H. Sturtevant of Freeport received the Bradley R. Evers ‘94 Outstanding First-Year Student Award. The Bradley R. Evers ‘94 Outstanding First- Year Student Award is granted to first-year students who best exemplify qualities of good citizenship at the University. Sturtevant is a member of the Class of 2018. She graduated from Freeport High School.
